L-J Arrowhead Ranch

The Goodsight Hills Ranch consists of just under 80 sections and consists of the following lands:

The current BLM Grazing Permit is for 1,013 head of cattle and 4 horses on a year-around basis.
The BLM land contributes approximately 49% of the carrying capacity as per the current permit.
The Ranch is unique in this area in that the Office of the State Engineer has issued a permit with
a 1935 priority date for the diversion of up to 3 acre feet over 3,570 acres of flood water from the
Macho Creek and Mule Draw, and their tributaries. This flood water contributes greatly to the
productivity of the Ranch.
The headquarters includes a modern brick veneer with metal roof home, metal barn with full
concrete floor, and working/shipping corrals. There is an additional set of shipping corrals with
scales in the eastern portion of the ranch and several other sets of corrals and pens across the
ranch.
There are currently six operating wells with an extensive network of pipelines and storage tanks
that distribute water to 48 tire water troughs. The pipelines and water troughs have largely been
replaced over the last ten years. There have been extensive upgrades and replacement of fences
and corrals during this same period.
The elevation is approximately 4,400 feet at the headquarters in the westerly portion of the ranch
and raises in the central portion of the ranch within the Goodsight Hills to between 5,000 to 5,200
feet with Goodsight Peak at 5,600 feet. The elevation in the easterly portion drops back to
approximately 4,500 feet.
Wildlife includes antelope, mule deer, javelina and quail.
Historical significance of the ranch includes that the Butterfield Trail crossed the ranch
